Abe Polsky broke the mold on twisted thrillers when he wrote this rarely seen movie. Based around a seemingly lovely family dynamic, two normal big breasted daughters who dress like they work at hooters, a lovely mother and, well and baby, yes, just Baby no name on file, who is clad in diapers and suckles a bottle. Problem? The “baby” is a grown man! He uses highchairs, crawls, babbles, the works! And the lovely family's golden personalities melt way as they are really control freaks who abuse Baby in many disturbing ways behind close doors.
The film is laughable with a certain level of a good old creep factor, some may find it disturbing. The characters are likable, and as soon as you meet “Baby” who is also mentally disabled, you cant avert your eyes. Filled with suspense as a social worker who recently lost her husband has more than enough time on her hands to try and investigate this so-called all American family when she gets a hunch that things aren't right. The acting is kooky-but not enough to stop watching, I think this film was ahead of its time, seems almost Lynch-ish in suurreal-ness. Being a sucker for twist endings I thought the climax of this film was well done and very surprising. Believable factor? Absolutely none, but then again, that's the beauty of this dark, quirky thriller.
