CRADLE OF FEAR

Directed by Alex Chandon

So, here I was about 4 years ago. I was checking out some sites online and ran across this site called “The Sick Room”. It was then I remembered Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth was in a movie. The Sick Room was located in the CRADLE OF FEAR website. After hunting around, checking out the site, I was impressed and must see this flick. As previously stated, that was 4 years ago. That’s how long it’s taken me to get a hold of this flick. Of course it’s readily available in the U.K., but at he time, I had no way of viewing DVDs in the PAL format. You know how they say good things come to those who wait? They weren’t fucking around. COF is a shocking and downright brutal ass flick. Set up in the anthology format, we’re taken for a hellish ride through four bloodstained horrors led by the satanic servant known as “The Man” played by Dani Filth.

The first grizzly tale, Nightclubbing, portrays the nightlife of London’s prestigious underworld. As the night winds down, Mel goes home with the mysterious GOTH stranger for a night of drug-induced pleasures. Defenseless to The Man’s thrall, she has become an incubator fir something demonic and evil. In a hallucinatory-like frenzy, she begins to see and feel some trippy shit. With tons of gore, there is plenty of blood and suspense to saver the palate of even the most deranged.

“Hatching Plots” begins with two women breaking and entering the business of an old store clerk to “score the big one!” Once inside the house, they encounter the man and wind up killing him. Thus unraveling a spirit if betrayal and greed. When Sophie (Rebecca Eden) discovers her accomplice may end up being their demise, she disposes of her as well. Believing she is in the clear, Sophie is the subject of her own rage.

We now move on the next horrible story, “Driving over the Influence.” Nick (Louie Brownsell) and Natalie (Eileen Daly) are two lovers consumed by fast cars and cocaine. Their loves seem kosher and cool…or maybe not. Nick is an amputee and is very self-conscious about it. After visiting his doctor, Nick decides now is the time to correct his disability. With instructions from his doctor, Nick goes to find a leg. Arriving at an old junky buddy’s house, he decides he’s going to take his leg. Nick learns that his actions are irreversible.

Now on the forth and last segment, which is my favorite idea of the flick... “Final Warning” puts David at the head of the snuff world. While researching data, he stumbles across various snuff…like websites depicting horrible live murders. In such awe, he hasn’t noticed that his life has fallen apart. Losing his job, he retreats to his home and begins surfing for The Sick Room. Trying numerous and numerous combinations every now and then, he’ll stumble across the site, witness a murder, and get disconnected. After loosing everything and being evicted, he hits up the local Internet café. Receiving an e-mail of the whereabouts of the sick room, he heads to the address he was given. He is lead straight into the mouth of madness. This segment was one of my favorite segments of this treat. Not recommended by the weak of hearted.

Behind the delirious mind of Alex Chandon , Cradle of fear is one hell of a fucked up treat…..Brutal and bloody, with strong influences from Takashi Miike. Cradle of Filth front man Dani Filth delivers yet another excellent performance, in his virgin stages of cinema…I could go on and on about all the things that made this so worth the wait, but I’ll just stop here. Buy the damn movie..
