The Conjuring was a more than decent paranormal film. I was worried that due to it claiming to be a true story, and related to the Amityville Horror story (Same paranormal investigators on the case.), that it would be a bit too copy cat for my taste, but it was good and a bit creepy, too! Centered around a family terrorized by a spirit in a farm house, Paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren come out to help Exercise the spirits. To be honest it wasn't even close to being a film that hasn't been done before , but it was still very good. I loved Vera Farmiga in it. I am a fan of her look and acting. She had a great presence in this film. Her portrayal of Lorraine Warren was great! The children in the film were also spooky and good actors. Being a film of Jason Wan's ( Saw, Dead Silence), I was really interested in seeing what he would do with this sort of plot. He did well. The effects and cinematography itself was well done , too.

Lili Taylor plays Carolyn Perron , a good mother and wife who becomes possessed by an evil spirit. Her acting, even thought I'm usually fan, was hard to believe. I don't know if it was because it was HER or just mediocre acting, but it was boarding on cheesy at some points. I found it a bit long, but not overly so, and only mildly slow. Was I creeped out at the end? I was just a bit. Could have been a bit better for all the hype.
