In a time when its seems like every time you pick up a flick or a book it's about zombies. Thanks to the phenomenal illustrated novel and the stellar TV series The Walking Dead zombies have become popular again.

DEADLOCKED begins with a man named David setting on his couch blindly watching the news. He's just returned from his doctor and has learned he has cancer and will die soon. It takes him a while to focus on what he was watching. The news reports are of people coming to the E.R. with a sickness claiming that someone stuck them in the leg on the subway with a needle some claimed a tiny razor blade.

Regardless of the stories the hospitals were filling up and something terribly wrong was happening. It was at that moment he realizes his wife went to take their daughters to her mothers house. Not knowing he heads off in search of her. As he leaves his house the chaos begins. Fighting his way in search he doesn't stop at anything. He has cancer remember. He's going to die anyway so irrational decisions don't apply anymore

I must say even in an overly saturated genre that this is without a doubt, one of the better reads to spend the end of your day reading. There isn't anything that stands out above any other zombie, but i cannot deny that from beginning to end I followed David and  quickly had emotions as to what was going to happen to him. The author does an excellent job of drawing the reader in. The structure of this book is very good which makes for a really cool zombie tale. Now I'm ready to read the second one.
