Exquisite Corpse is a amazing Horror Novel. Based on real life Serial Killer, Dennis Nilsen. Gender- bending-Brite, takes us on an insane adventure with Andrew Compton, an English convicted homosexual Serial Killer, Cannibal,and necrophiliac. The tone of the novel is set at "intensely disturbing" to say the very least. The story starts out with Compton, our main character as a convicted killer, and is in prison rotting, until he gets the idea to escape his UK prison cell as a dead man in a self-induced cataleptic trance, only to revive himself again, and build a new life in New Orleans. (The place ALL Poppy's books take you) But while basking in the gritty nightlife of the French Quarter, and after slipping into his born ways, anticipating a willing victim, he finds an equal in Jay Byrne, a decadent artist (Based off real life Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer) They both go on a crazy Cannibalistic rampage, and find a specific gay boy to fixate on,Tran. But Tran falls hard for Jay, he doesn't know that these feelings will only lead to his possible demise! The story has you on edge, gripping your seat, even adverting your eyes from the intense images of flesh eating on each page. Brite writes with real conviction, and brutal horror. The story goes on to have a twist. Tran's estranged older gay lover, Lucas Ransom, who is a pirated radio D.J, seeks to be reunited with Tran. Will he reach Tran in time to save him from this grisly, sick love affair? This book will have you guessing, but it also makes you really grow to care about the character. This book will have you up past your bedtime, either in fear, or because it's so amazingly written.
