The year is 1984, Reagan is in the White House and the war on drugs is a priority. Scientists are working tirelessly to concoct a way to kill off the coca plants in hopes of stopping the cocaine industry from continuing to lay seige to the American way of life. They think they have found the answer, but the cure could be worse than the problem!

Mold, released by Wild Eye Releasing in 2012, is a great nod to some great films of the 80s.  While watching it I kept thinking of classic films like Tales from the Crypt (specifically the short with Stephen King), Night of The Creeps and The Stuff, all favorites of my youth. It is a great homage film for B-cult  fans. The effects are so reminiscent of the period the film is set in! Director Neil Meschino had a great eye for detail in this one, it will transport you back to the cheesy gore goodness of the 80s, and offer up some new laughs along the way.

Mold isn't anything particularly new but it will entertain the hell out of you, as it takes you back to the days of VHS and BetaMax. Its has some great practical gore moments, and some hilarious dark comedy, in the form of a uber Patriotic Zombie Soldier, and its just hard to go wrong with that kind of combination. If your are looking for a film to make you stop and contemplate the world and its great mysteries this one ain't gonna do that folk,s but if your looking for just some mindless guilty pleasure movie moments; Mold has you covered! Ewwww okay so bad choice of words but ya'll know what I mean!  I am glad to have this film in my collection, I will be revisiting it again in the near future!
